Hi there. While driving the vehicle and having the engine light begin to flash, then there is a major problem that is currently existing. When the EPC light comes on, there is an issue with the throttle pedal, throttle bodytraction control, or cruise control.

Due to the nature of the engine shaking while both lights are on, this would be due to a loss of fuel or a high volume of fuel to the cylinders. Most likely, the throttle pedal has lost communication to the computer and the computer is trying to determine what the count is on the pedal.

This put the engine into a limp mode and make the fuel system either go lean or rich depending on the counts on the throttle pedal. Unplug the harness to the pedal and put a digital ohm meter on the terminals to the pedal.

Check resistance on the pedal with it up and then check resistance with the pedal down. If there is no change, then the throttle pedal needs replaced. If there is a change, then the throttle position sensor needs replaced on the engine.

If you need further assistance troubleshooting your vehicle, then seek out a technician, such as one from YourMechanic, that can perform these tests and properly diagnose rough running engine at your own location.

I replaced the spark plugs thinking they were bad but it still wont start. It acts like it is out of fuel. I want to replace the fuel filter but I cannot find it on the body anywhere. Can anyone tell me where I can locate it and if this sounds like a fuel filter issue? Deathjam4 answered 5 years ago.

The bolt holding the strap has a tendency to get striped where the nut is held and not allow you to pull it off. Anything after that is a bad fuel pump. And i would check your starter and ground cables as well as your alternator cables and grounds. And take that battery back to where ever you got it and get your money back if it was not the audi dealer.

However, if you know what some of the most frequent caused of engine vibration are, you can not only avoid too much stress and worry, you can know how to explain the problem and symptoms to a car mechanic when the time comes to correct the problem. So, here is a list of some of the most common reasons your car's engine might shake or vibrate. In many vehicles a common cause of engine vibration is worn out or faulty sparkplugs.

Worn out or dirty sparkplugs will cause the car's engine to misfire or not properly fire on each and every cylinder. When this occurs, it is commonly referred to as the engine missing or not firing on all cylinders.

This can usually be corrected by installing new sparkplugs or correcting other spark or compression-related issues. Loose or disconnected hoses can also be a common cause of many types of engine vibration. A loose or disconnected air hose or vacuum hose can cause quite a bit of violent shaking and vibration in your car's engine. To correct the problem, simply look for any loose or disconnected hoses and reattach them and replace them as needed.

If the vehicle shakes violently or the engine vibrates excessively when stopped at a red light or when parked with the engine on, this may be a good indicator that the motor mounts or transmission mounts on the vehicle are damaged or broken. A good way to tell if this is the problem is to simply put the car in neutral and see if the vibration or shaking decreases a bit.

If it does, this is a good sign that there may be problems with your engines motor mounts and you should have the engine inspected by a qualified repair shop or professional mechanic.

Another common problem that causes engine vibration and nasty shaking is a poorly adjusted fuel intake system.

Sometimes, idling problems that cause engine vibration may be as simple as adjusting the idle on a carburetor or cleaning components in the fuel intake system so that fuel passes through the engine more easily creating cleaner and more efficient combustion your car's engine. Problems with your vehicle's timing belt, or other belt driven accessories, are another common cause of engine vibrations in vehicles.

Timing belts and other belts that are loose or damaged will cause components controlled by belts such as fans and other parts to not rotate or turn a consistent speeds which will result in strange sounds and vibrations from your car's engine. To avoid these types of problems, you should frequently inspect all of the belts in your vehicle to make sure that they are free from crakcs and ribbing and also make sure that the belts are tight and operating as they should.

Honestly, 80k miles is a lot for an Audi 1. I would look into selling this vehicle soon as many things are soon to fail on this vehicle and being an Audi, it will be very expensive to repair. Blinking normally means it's missfiring. That's the horrible shaking that you're feeling. Let's not jump the gun and blame the shop that did the timing belt. It may be related Do not drive the vehicle; TOW it in.

Hopefully the shop that did your timing belt is an Audi specialist. Have them scan for fault codes and go from there. I agree my car has a hundred and forty thousand miles on original turbo, and everything slowly starting to break a knee replacement I think I might hit the limit for this car sucks cause it was a really fun car but things are going one after another and getting too expensive.

The shaking could be a transmission or an engine problem, and because the check engine light is blinking and because there is always a backup for that, I'm guessing the engine is damaged. It could be that road debris got in, which caused the shaking, or your springs are damaged though this almost never happens. Nevertheless, go to the dealership and ask about it, or consult your manual for more help. Belt was changed?

You can cause some serious catalytic converter damage with a severe misfire like that. There's a testing procedure with the use of a Digital meter on the web if you do a search for it.

It has to do with the repair you just had done. DO NOT let them say it is some random event. The timing is off. Read your manual.
